Five Reasons Everyone Needs a "Doodle" Mix...

Five Reasons Everyone Needs a "doodle" Mix...

I am sure many of you have heard about the "doodle" hype recently but are not sure why everyone is so excited and in love with these breeds. Here at Feathers and Fleece Farm we are on board too! We raise 4 different sizes of Sheepadoodles (Old English Sheepdog + Poodle) and 2 different sizes of Schnoodle (Schnauzer + Poodle) and we couldn't be more in love with these breeds!

*All three dogs above are from Feathers and Fleece Farm

Here are five reasons everyone should have a doodle mix!

1.) They are so easy!
Because the poodle is bred to another breed this mix will come out hypoallergenic and non- drooling! This means that your dog will not smell like a stinky dog and shed all over the place! No need to keep a lint roller in every room. What a relief! PLUS, their coats are wavy and fluffy. This makes you want to cuddle and hug you furry friend constantly and with their hypoallergenic fur you can cuddle these guys all you want with no allergy consequences! YES!!!!!!

2.) They are healthier than other breeds.
These breeds have something that is referred to as hybrid vigor. This is achieved when unrelated breeds of any animal species are mated. This causes the offspring of the first generation to be healthier, more fertile, and (in animals) more mentally stable than either parent breed. It also increases their life span! Who doesn't want their furry friend to live longer?!?! Want to learn more? Click on this link below to visit our Feathers and Fleece website page on Hybrid Vigor.

3.) They are incredibly intelligent!
The Rover Daily Treat recently published the ten smartest breeds and the Poodle came in at a close second place! Their intelligence was based on two qualities: the ability to quickly learn new commands and the obedience to perform them 95% of the time or better! Wow, that's better than most humans! Here at Feathers and Fleece we were interested to see where the Old English Sheepdog and the Schnauzer fell on the list of intelligence. Both were in the top 100! The Old English Sheepdog was number 63 and the Giant Schnauzer was number 28! No wonder our Sheepadoodles and Schnoodles are so easy to train!
Here is Dexter again playing with his youngest sister. He listens so well!

4.) They are so LOVING!
When you get the best of both worlds you get the affection, intelligent, and pleasing characteristics of both breeds. From experience, Feathers and Fleece Farm can say that the Sheepadoodle and the Schnoodle are some of the sweetest, most cuddly and endearing dog breeds we have ever been around. They are great with children and other pets because they love everything and everyone. They are the perfect companions!

You can tell this little guy loves to cuddle his brother and sister!

5.) They are very approachable!
When you combine the poodle's sophisticated and fluffy look with the Old English Sheepdog or the Schnauzer they are absolutely adorable! Here at Feathers and Fleece we believe our greatest marketing is our clients and their pups. You would not believe how many times we have heard "We discovered you  when we met one of your Sheepadoodles at the park!" These breeds do not look mean or scary. Their appearance is sweet and touchable. Feathers and Fleece Sheepadoodles are highly social and eager to meet new people and make new friends.  Everyone wants to pet them! So be prepared for a normal walk to take much longer when you have a doodle at your side!
Just look at this face! He is absolutely adorable!

We hope this has given you some insight as to how amazing these "doodles" are! Join the bandwagon! We can't say enough about our love for them. These dogs are easy, healthy, intelligent, loving, beautiful and so much fun!!!
